IoT Engineer (Full-Time Contract)

In this role, you will be converting a prototype system to a robust production ready platform and deploy the backend structure for data collection and processing, preferably in a cloud-based environment for near real-time analytics, verification and flight planning. This is an open-ended design role with very few limitations and freedom to implement a variety of data structures using the best-suited tools.


Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with a focused team to come to a consensus on your proposed IoT solution and ensure the project meets both clients and end-user needs.

  • Design, develop, prototype IoT solutions and deliver Proof of Concepts for the current application as well as offshoots and secondary markets.

  • Develop end-to-end IoT solution architecture including the use of appropriate sensor technology, EDGE gateways, and cloud-based IoT platform, middleware components, data modeling, and service-orientated architecture (SOA) solutions.

  • Ability to develop, write and deliver white papers, technical presentations and participate in industry conference panels or group discussions.


Qualifications and Technical Skills
  • Good understanding of IoT landscape and IoT technologies, trends, and capabilities.

  • Must be familiar with various IoT platforms such as Microsoft Azure IoT suite, AWS IoT platform, IBM Bluemix, etc; preferably project-based experience in an at least one of the above IoT platforms

  • Working knowledge of various wireless technologies such as Bluetooth, BLE, ZigBee, Z-Wave, 6LowPAN, LoRaWAN, RF, WiFi, Cellular, Sigfox etc.

  • Experience working with various IoT protocols (MQTT, XMPP, DDS, AMQP, CoAP) for connectivity between various things (D2D, S2S, D2S)

  • Hands-on experience with software development technology stack including Java, Mobile technologies, JSON, REST, SOAP, APIs, etc.

  • Embedded Linux, microcontroller and/or FPGA experience

  • Have hands-on experience coding various hobby level development boards such as Intel Edison, Arduino, Adafruit, and Raspberry Pi etc.

  • Familiarity using Big Data Analytics tools such as Tableau, Spark, Trifacta, Platfora, etc.

  • Understanding of databases, and working knowledge of SQL, NoSQL, XML, JSON, Oracle, hBase, Cassandra, Hive, MongoDB, etc.

  • Knowledge of remote access products, VPNs, gateways, firewalls, proxies, and networking configurations

  • Familiarity with flight controllers such as PixHawk

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
