JOB DESCRIPTION

Sniffer Robotics is seeking a strong leader with a minimum of five years of experience to lead our digital transformation and solution development processes and personnel to drive our continued SaaS business.

This is a leadership position where career growth to department lead is expected. The position also requires management of the GIS team, including international colleagues, interns, and technicians/specialists. The Manager of GIS Services and Solutions reports to the Chief Operating Officer and is part of the Operations Management Team.

A successful candidate should be knowledgeable in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and the Python and Arcade programming languages. The role requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, meet deadlines and short turnaround times, and good communication and customer service skills. Additionally, the candidate should be available to assist field technicians with technical issues as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage GIS personnel, workflows, and products to ensure timely and accurate deliverables to clients.

  • Manage an ArcGIS Online organization, including creating and sharing content, managing user access and permissions, and monitoring usage and performance.

  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for GIS workflows and processes.

  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with other staff to achieve project goals.

  • Stay current with new GIS technologies and trends.

  • Be on call to provide technical assistance to technicians and pilots in the field.

  • Develop and maintain Python scripts and Arcade expressions for automating GIS workflows and data processing.

  • Produce documented and evaluated architectural options for solutions in response to tender business requirements (including risks, costs, implications, opportunities).

  • Gather customer requirements and design solution blueprints - develop and deliver an implementable and testable understanding of the client’s vision and requirement.

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to determine software requirements, explain technical issues and solutions to audiences of widely varying technical abilities clearly and patiently.

  • Continually research current and emerging technologies and propose changes when needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in geography, GIS, computer science, or related field.

  • Minimum of two years of management experience.

  • Minimum of five years of experience in GIS analysis and programming

  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities

  • Proficiency in Python and Arcade programming languages.

  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.

  • Experience managing an ArcGIS Online organization.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and short turnaround times.

  • Deep understanding of various GIS platforms and tools (ESRI ArcGIS, Geoserver, OpenLayers, Cesium, Geonetwork etc)

  • Highly analytical mindset, with an ability to see both the big picture and the details.

  • Strong Customer Service Skills.

  • Candidate should be located in Southeastern Michigan.

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, software engineering, computer science, Geodesy, Geoinformatics, Geography or other relevant fields.

  • Previous experience in project management or coordination of technical teams.

  • Willingness to experiment, try, fail and learn from it.

  • A positive team building, mentoring, and training mindset.

 

The candidate must be able to legally work in the United States, pass a background check and drug screen, and will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
